Volunteer Street Team Coordinator

Work Location: Killeen, and other Texas cities where Snip & Tip operates.
Purpose of the Position: The Lead Street Team Volunteer supports Snip & Tip by overseeing and coordinating the efforts of the Street Team volunteers. This role includes leading community outreach activities, managing event logistics, and ensuring effective communication and engagement with the community.
Volunteer Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate the efforts of Street Team volunteers, providing guidance, support, and supervision during community events and door-to-door outreach.
Event Management: Plan and manage logistics for community events, including setting up and breaking down informational booths, organizing materials, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
Training and Mentoring: Train new Street Team volunteers on outreach strategies, effective communication techniques, and Snip & Tip’s mission and programs. Provide ongoing mentoring and support.
Community Outreach: Conduct door-to-door outreach and represent Snip & Tip at community events, engaging with residents, distributing educational materials, and gathering feedback.
Volunteer Coordination: Schedule and assign tasks to Street Team volunteers, ensuring coverage for all events and outreach activities.
Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between Street Team volunteers and the program coordinator, providing regular updates on outreach activities and volunteer performance.
Reporting: Collect and compile data from outreach activities, including community feedback, volunteer hours, and engagement metrics. Submit regular reports to the program coordinator.
Problem Solving: Address any issues or concerns that arise during outreach activities, providing solutions and support to ensure successful engagement with the community.
Resource Management: Manage and organize outreach materials, including educational flyers, promotional items, and other resources needed for events and door-to-door outreach.
Networking: Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, local businesses, and other organizations to foster support for Snip & Tip.
Level of Difficulty:
Physical (3/5): Involves standing for long periods, walking, and carrying outreach materials.
Mental (4/5): Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and coordinate a team.
Emotional (4/5): Can be emotionally challenging due to encountering varying opinions and situations regarding community cats and pet ownership.
Expected Environmental Conditions: Majority of the work occurs outdoors at community events and during door-to-door outreach. Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather and be prepared for varying conditions.
How Often Volunteers Work On-site: All volunteer work is on-site in the community, at events, or door-to-door.
Orientation/Training:
General orientation and training on Snip & Tip’s mission, TNR program, and outreach strategies.
Hands-on training specific to the role, including effective communication techniques, volunteer management, and community engagement.
Introduction to key team members and community partners.
Learning Opportunities:
Develop or strengthen leadership and team management skills.
Gain experience in event planning and logistics.
Enhance communication, public speaking, and community outreach skills.
Position Start Date: Ongoing.
Initial Minimum Commitment: Six to twelve hours per week for three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and interest.
Scheduling Guidelines: Flexible, with most work required during weekends and evenings based on event schedules and community availability. Volunteers should be available for scheduled events and door-to-door outreach times.
Tools/Equipment Provided (including Personal Protective Equipment):
Training materials, resources, and support for outreach activities.
Supplies for events and door-to-door outreach, including flyers, promotional items, and educational materials.
Optional Tools/Equipment: Any specialty tools or personal equipment you prefer to work with.
Supervisor(s): Program Coordinator, Snip & Tip.
Number of Concurrent Volunteer Openings: 2-3 individuals per location.
Restrictions:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must wear a Snip & Tip t-shirt (provided at no cost) when representing the program.
Must have reliable transportation for travel to events and door-to-door outreach locations.
Must submit required paperwork and pass a background check before being assigned.
